BEAMS Presents Duelling Axes

Call for artist participants.

Hey Beamers,

This is a shout out to all you experimentalists out there for a small different kind of show, we are looking for artists to come take part in on Saturday, November 9th 2019 from 7pm to midnight.  It is called Duelling Axes.  I’m sure many of you are familiar with sound signals being run into an Oscilloscope which results in a variety of messy lines, shapes, or designs.  If not, you can check out my meager attempt at it here.

You can search the internet to find a variety of amazing work by more skilled artists who can create mind blowing designs and audio/visual artwork using this technique.  This a pretty popular one.

The concept for this beams show is to gather as many artists as we can to come by with their Oscillators, instruments, sound generators, drum machines or even a mic for their voice.  Traditionally oscillators from synthesizers work the best for this but we encourage you to try and be as experimental with it as you can.  When we’ve compiled a list of all who will take part we will pair you up.  Or if you want to come as a specific pair of artists you can do that as well.  Each pair will get 20 minutes to use their sound devices, one person gets to be the left mono signal (X axis) and one person is the right mono signal (Y axis), and will create visual art which will be projected live at the show accompanied by the sounds they are making.  Each artist can only bring one instrument/device that will have one mono 1/4” output.

Please let us know if you individually are interested in taking part, or a group of two of you as well.
